Completely Disable Spotlight Indexing
First you may have to disable System Integrity Protection (SIP) to perform these steps.
- From the finder, select Go > Utilities > Terminal. this will open your terminal
- Type one of the following commands, then press Enter:
Enable Indexing –
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
For Disable Indexing –
sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist
